Ubuntu Schools

Ubuntu Schools is a portuguese education programme that promotes inclusive schools and meaningful
learning experiences through a values-based methodology. Rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy — "I am
because you are" — the programme equips students (13-18years) and educators with socioemotional, civic,
and ethical competences. It fosters leadership, empathy, resilience, and cooperation, particularly in schools
in vulnerable territories. Implemented in more than 430 schools in Portugal, it includes training for educators,
student-led Ubuntu Clubs, and community engagement initiatives. In addition to Portugal, this project is
already being implemented in Spain, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
